Theres more to California than Los Angeles. Santa Monica and Orange County are all part of the city - California is bigger than the British Isles so you only saw a tiny part.
And I like odd people. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif I'd much rather be among the creative and eccentric, than the terminally cynical.

I think LA was made for you.Your going to really enjoy yourself out there.
You've acheived new depths of shallowness.

To have one of my feature screenplays go into production...or even optioned.
To complete my nursing course.

The next ten years...
To be doing what I love, behind the helm of a feature (on second thoughts, making a film instead http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ).
To be the next Alfred Hitchcock.
To be able to get out of bed in the morning and look forward to going to work.
The next ten weeks...
To leave my current job... http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif
cheers

I want a feature film under my belt. Not necesarily a great one, but a good one.
I want to be able to make films for the rest of my life.
I just want to do what I love, and not have a real job.

Why you called me shallow for sticking up for odd people. Most of the best filmmakers, actors, artists, etc were/are all eccentric...or assholes (or both).

10 years....it's a long time but i think that my goals will be fairly universal for the rest of my life.
to be happy. there's no point doing anything if i'm not happy. hopefully, being happy is incorporated into establishing a film company, be financially stable so i know that i can afford my phone calls, move to New York (california? never!) and hopefully have at least one fully completed feature film to call my own. going to cannes with it wouldn't be too bad either.

I know this post is a little old but I have only just read it. For anyone over in ENgland thinking of coming to the states dont rule out Austin TX. Not only is it a great city it was voted the number 3 city in the U.S. for filmmaking. That is after LA and New York of course. Both LA and NY are very exspensive places to live, and you want your money to go to making movies after all. Just thought I would mention that.
